A contemporary Christmas tree crafted from a solid piece of a rare and historical Lebanon Cedar at the castle “Château de Sassenage” near Grenoble, in the French Alps. This unique tree grew up to a height of about 20 meters and had an average trunk diameter of 2.2 meters. Planted in 1790, at the time of Marie Antoinette and Ludwig XVI, a time when the upper nobility loved to enrich their opulent gardens with trees of exotic heritage. During a terrible storm the crown of this monumental specimen was devastatingly damaged and this rare, protected tree had to be felled. The company Linari and its chief designer Rainer Diersche was granted to purchase what was left and create a piece of luxury to last for a while.

Now what is so special about crystal? Scientists have proven that the difference between crystal and glass is that the former contains lead oxide, which adds magnificent optical effects, a special breaking of the light and certain softness. Crystal can be cut, polished and further processed, since it does not chip as easily as glass. Because of the added lead, crystal is surprisingly heavy, which gives it even more appeal. Cutting makes crystal beautiful, while polishing makes it shine even brighter.
After studying this process carefully and with Apple’s leading market shares, CalypsoCrystal, a company based in Ljubljana, decided to release their CrystalDock, which is a crystal iPhone and iPod Touch stand for charging and synching the devices.
Read on to find out more about this luxurious desktop accessory and how to win one handcrafted beautiful model by CalypsoCrystal.

A wig is a head of hair made from horse hair, human hair, wool, feathers, buffalo hair, or synthetic materials which is worn on the head for fashion or various other aesthetic and stylistic reasons, including cultural and religious observance. The industry choice, however, is yak hair, which is not only inexpensive, but close in consistency and appearance to human hair as well. The word wig is short for periwig and first appeared in the English language around 1675.
Some famous wigwearers are Terry Wogan, Bruce Forsythe, Michael Fabricant, Mo Mowlam, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Cher, Miley Cyrus and Andre Agassi, who wore a wig during the early 1990s to conceal his baldness.

Leon Levinstein (American, 1910 to 1988), an unheralded master of street photography, is best known for his candid and unsentimental black-and-white figure studies made in New York City neighborhoods from Times Square and the Lower East Side to Coney Island.
Drawn exclusively from the Metropolitan's collection this exhibition features some forty photographs that reflect the artist's fearless approach to the medium. Levinstein's graphic virtuosity—seen in raw, expressive gestures and seemingly monumental bodies—is balanced by his unusual compassion for his offbeat subjects from the demimonde.
Ich bin fest davon überzeugt, dass man nur dann in der Mode arbeiten sollte, wenn man sich rund um die Uhr mit der Materie beschäftigt.
Nur wer die Mode liebt, darf sie auch kritisieren.

Nolan Miller, born on 8 January 1935, is an American fashion designer, television costume designer best known for his work on the long-running 1980s series Dynasty, its spin-off series The Colbys and the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion. He has collaborated on many projects with television producers Aaron Spelling and Douglas S. Cramer.

From 1983 to 1986, Miller was nominated four times for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costume Design for a Series for his work on Dynasty; he was also nominated in 1985 for the Elizabeth Taylor television movie Malice in Wonderland and in 1987 for The Two Mrs. Grenvilles starring Ann-Margaret and Claudette Colbert.

The concept store per se as a concept for the point of sale is what keeps the retail industry still fascinating albeit slow economy and here comes the Italian Société Anonyme located in Firenze. The store carries a good range of designers from Martin Margiela, Surface to Air, Comme de Garcon, April77 to even more commercial brands such as Freitag. Of course our beloved bicycles are showcased in limited editions as well. A concept store deserves its name only then, when it is a vehicle for marketing incentives such as brand exhibitions and brand shows, which seem to work for Société Anonyme very well.

The “Tartan” is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colors. Tartans originated in woven cloth, but now they are used in many other materials. Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland. Scottish kilts almost always have tartan patterns. The company Burberry also uses this Tartan pattern. Check out some of the new arrivals.

Sabrina Dehoff has been experimenting on the accessoires market for quite a while now, making "selfmade etsyism" and sailor knots a common parlance among the Berliner itsy-bitsy fashionistas. The results are at times distrubing and sometimes charming and the prices are far beyond reality. Dear Sabrina, we really like your collections but we have one message for you: please work on the quality of your products as it leaves universes for improvement.

German designer and trend forecaster Michael Michalsky invited the Qompendium Crew to take a glimpse behind his show and witness a spring summer collection that not only flatters the women silhouette but also embraces a romantic side in men and draws attention to three very special yet unfortunately endangered species.

VideoSuper Stupid Diesel |
|
Italian brand showcased a boring SS11 collection in an interesting setting and that is their smart game: A plastic igloo with an interior made of a junkyard, a theater, a sandy beach with elements of a circus. As usual nothing really changes in the Diesel collection, so we did not bother filming, but what does change is just how the brand is communicated and presented. Five stars go to the idea and zero to the execution. Let Diesel be super stupid. |
VideoMarkus Lupfer’s Edwardian Script Love Affair |
|
German designer Markus Lupfer launched his collection back in 1998 and ever since he has celebrated fame and fortune among some other enfant terrible including Roisin Murphy and Gwen Stefani. For his Spring Summer 2011 collection Lupfer exhibited his signature pieces in the lovely new location The Soho House Berlin, at the Torstrasse 1. The location is Berlin’s the place to be and offers English extravaganza to its members and seasonal visitors Among guests we could witness even Vogue Editor in Chief, Christiane Arp, herself. Yet the presentation was needy and rather unglamorous. And we wish he would stop misusing Edwardian Script. |

Almost everyone is captivated by DC Comics super heroes and villains. Now, they have signed a limited partnership with a French producer Myface to launch their line of T-shirts with characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and others. We met them during the Bread and Butter, SS11.

The Lee Spring Summer collection is inspired by the 1950s. Lee is playing “The Matching Blues” with a modern twist, using premium denims like the Selvage Matching Blue, Selvage Matching White and Selvage Chambray Fabrics. The tops are combining vibrant colors and atomic prints, mixing work wear with leisure.

"Untitled Structures” presents a variety of diverse materials and textures combined with extraordinary contouring. Draped fabric conveys numerous abstract shapes. The collection offers geometric shapes, offering geometric details that form a contrast to randomly temerging elements which appear to be arranged in chaotic order. Sheer fabric and floating materials emphasize the incosistency of the collection and induce a certain distinctive formation. Untitled Structures” focuses on formal opposites and haptic attraction. Thus special emphasis is put on the shape and texture rather than on the colors.

The beauty world's respond to the Red Carpet glamourama and those yearning for instant stardom: here comes Revlon's Photo Ready Makeup for Fall/Winter 2011 and available worldwide in September.

According tho the encyclopedia the word mongrel refers to mixed ancestry. In botany, a mongrel may refer to the offspring of varieties of a species which was in contrast to a hybrid. Among pets, one whose parentage is of unknown or mixed breeds as opposed to purebred. Among humans, mongrel and mongrelize are derogatory terms for the mixing of races, known as miscegenation. And in fashion terms there is a German label "Mongrels in Common" Livia Ximénez Carrillo und Christine Pluess, claiming to stand for fusion of different cultures and the results are surprisingly good.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jean-Philippe Gawronski launched I and D in 2007 with the ambition of creating an ecological, contemporary and sophisticated range of shoes and accessories.
Jean-Philippe's concern for protecting the environment is omnipresent and he is particularly saddened by the destruction of a large part of the Amazon rainforest. Having adopted "organic" consumption practices, he noticed that very few brands of clothes and accessories, particularly on the luxury market, use organic production processes. So he decided to rectify this by creating his own brand and humorously naming it Imitation and Disguise.
After spending his childhood in Brazil where he was immersed in the world of fashion his mother worked as finance director for some of the large high-street fashion chains before creating her own couture house – it was natural that Jean-Philippe would take up a career as a model. However, his enthusiasm for fashion went beyond appearances, he was more interested in design and so in 2001 he decided to go to Paris. He joined the Malhia Kent couture house where he worked as an assistant for two years, then he continued his apprenticeship by becoming chief assistant to Carlos Miele in Sao Paulo, then in New York and lastly in Paris. He moved to Paris permanently in 2006 and worked for Martin Grant while studying at the Studio Berçot. In 2008 he went to work for Lanvin alongside Albert Elbaz for almost a year.
